Logidigal, E.I.G., is a non-profit-making association of businesses connected to
the port of
Vigo: Stevedores, Freight Forwarders, Carriers, Shipping Agents, Service
sector companies (towage firms, shipowners, insurance companies, maritime lawyers,
ship supplies etc.). Its objective is to promote and increase the traffic using
the port of Vigo.

As the logistic centre for the transfer of merchandise, the port needs to evolve
and adapt to new traffic and new requirements of vessels with ever deeper drafts
and companies which demand ever increasing efficiency in the loading and unloading
process.

The commercial and
industrial sector demand a
constant reduction in storage and transport time, a reduction which requires the
division of cargos and ever more reliable ocean transport services.
The port needs to grow, but at the same time it must grow in harmony with the city
since it is the dynamic focus of the local economy, attracting new businesses and
creating employment.

The port must present itself in a modern, reliable and positive light all over its
zone of influence, selling its services and making a name for itself overseas. In
the same way, the port should transmit a dynamic, lively commercial image to the
citizens of Vigo, and to do this needs the support of all the businesses connected
to the port's multiple activities - whether as users or service providers. |

For all these reasons, an important number of the
city's businessmen and women felt it vital to create this Economic Interest Group
(EIG). |
